How can I make my nails look more presentable while growing out artificial gel nails?

I am trying to grow out gel nails. They do not come off with acetone, as they're not acrylics, they're gels. Gel won't come off with acetone. They're about halfway there, but does anyone have any tips on making my hands look better until they're completely grown out? They look terrible right now. Thanks! How can I make my nails look more presentable while growing out artificial gel nails?

Artificial nails?

My nails are always breaking and chipping from work. I work as a checkout chick, so they get quite a beating lol.

I was wondering if there are any artificial nails like gel or acrylic, that would stop them from breaking? Just so they can have a chance to grow.

Which would be better to get, gel or acrylic?

I heard they damage your nails too...so would it be a good idea to get them at all?

Thanks!Artificial nails?
You could get a gel or acrylic overlay on your nails. No matter what you do if you put something like that over your nails though they are going to be damaged. If you want something to just strengthen them use Sally Hanson's Hard as Nails. My uncle is a guitar player and he would paint his thumb with the clear one and it strengthened his nail so he could use it to play.Artificial nails?
fake nails just make your nails weaker!

if you want stronger nails try this polish it works amazingly.

gel nails are really durable. you would recieve some benefits from them if you don't get them too long.1 won't break as easily, 2 polish lasts longer
try the salon
go to a nail salon and tell them whats been happening and if theyre good theyll give you good tips
Acrylic nails are not a good idea. when they start to grow out and/or rise, you can get water uder them that will sit there and you could get an infection or something on/ under your real nail.
artificial nails are undeniably cute, but after i take mine off, my nails are damaged! the salons i go to always ';drill'; and ';shave'; my nails at the cuticles, so they leave dent marks once they're taken off. i would have to say artificial nails dont really add strength to your nails... they're just EXPENSIVE coatings =]
acrylic. i had gel and they were always breaking.
just try some clear nail varnish and to hit the key with finger not your nails

  • Artificial Nails?!?

How do you remove artificial nails without having to go to the actual nail salon??Artificial Nails?!?
Get 100% acetane nail polish remover, and soak them. It will take a really long time. If they don't come off easily, soak them some more.

Whatever you do, DON'T pull or pry them off. They will peel off layers of your natural nail, and cause lots of damage that will take a long time to grow out again.Artificial Nails?!?
    They have nailpolish for it.

    =]
ok you're going to look funny doing this but IT WORKS!

    You're going to need:

    1 Pure Acetone

    2 Cotton Balls

    3 Aluminum Foil

    4. Emery board

What you do is soak the cotton ball in the pure acetone and place it on your nail and wrap aluminum foil around each one the aluminum foil helps speed up the process and help remove the acrylic much better. But be sure to remove your polish before hand.. I you see that the fake nails are longer than your natural nail then cut the extra length. Once most of the acrylic has melted off.. the excess stuff that is stuck just lightly file off with the emery board... it wont damage your nail it will help lift off the acrylic leftover... Good luck
Soak in acetone nail polish and peel them off yourself. It can hurt and you have to be kind of careful, but it can be done.
1 - you can chew them off...lol or

2 - buy acetone %26amp; soak your nails in the acetone, practically all day until it dissolves.
soak them in pure acetone...it takes a long time but is so much less painful than having them removed at the salon
cut as much off as you can and then soak them in acetone. artificial nails are terrible for your real nails. expect you nails to be soft after the artificial nails are removed.
Soak them in HOT water, soak them in nail polish remover then when they are lose take a nife under them and pull them of.
If you soak them in WARM acetone, they come off quicker and easier. It takes about 30 minutes and once they get mushy, scrape them with your fingernails. Make sure not to put the acetone in plastic because it will melt the plastic bowl and take your polish off first. My nail girl tells me to cut them with fingernail clippers first because it cracks them and loosens the nail so the acetone can get underneath. Your nails will be brittle and your skin real sensitive because the acetone is hard on your hands, just moisturize with an unscented lotion.
you can get a bowl filled with nail polish remover and soak your fingers in it and they will get very like soggy and you can just pull them off with no pain and no problems also you can do the same thing but put hot water in the bowl but whatever you prefer!
Soak then in nail polish remover
even though some of the responses are correct...the ONLY problem is is that you cant purchase 100% pure acetone without a license....the kind that you can get from sally's or the drug store isnt powerful enough...you will be soaking for hours!!!! if this is the route you wanna take then you will need patience, a buffer and a glass dish to pour the acetone in....oh and the most important thing that i suggest you NOT doing....dont do what one of the posters said and warm the acetone(you will blow something up)

    Artificial white tip nails?

I'm new to this girly girl thing but here's my dilemma. I got artificial white tips put on 3 wks ago and then a fill a week ago and will be needing another fill in a week but the white of my nails are starting to show below the artificial white. What happens at my next fill? Do they replace the tips? (OUCH!) or just have them painted? Artificial white tip nails?
They just file down the tip a bit, and fill in at the base. Eventaully your real nails will be it with a touch of acrylic for strength.Artificial white tip nails?
They will file them down to a size you like, refill them and paint the tip. You can ask them to replace them, but typically they will just repaint the tips and coat them with a sealer so the color will stay.
The grind down a little into that area and fill the white first, then the pink from the bottom up.

Did I get acrylics when I asked for gel artificial nails?

I didn't know anything about artificial nails when I went in for them today. I had been told by a friend to ask for gels, so I did.

When I got home I described what process the nail tech used and my friend said I ended up with acrylic nails with a gel coat on top!

I was charged for gels, and told I was getting gels. The tech used a powder and some violet liquid to create the nails--this is acrylic, yes?

I am thinking of asking for a refund if they didn't provide the service I asked for, gel is always an actual gel, right? It isn't the powder?

Did I get acrylics when I asked for gel artificial nails?
Interesting answers. Unfortunately, all of them are incorrect Your friend was correct in saying that you got acrylic nails with a gel topcoat IF they used real UV gel as the last step, and the lamp was not a polish dryer, but a UV lamp. This is a special lamp used to 'cure' UV gels. Typically, each layer of gel is cured for two minutes each. You see, what happened to you happens all the time to so very many unsuspecting women who ask for gel nails. It is typically a scam that happens in what nail techs commonly refer to as 'discount' salons. And there are a lot of people going to this type of salon, hence the incorrect answers given to you. Most people seem to believe that simply because they asked for gel nails in one of these salons, they certainly MUST have gotten them, right? I mean, why would they lie? Well, it comes down to money, and a lack of skill which is required to apply UV gel nails properly. The techs in this type of salon are typically unskilled, and have a rather limited range of knowledge when it comes to doing nails. Many are unlicensed, and working without a nail technician's license is illegal in 49 of the 50 states - Connecticut being the sole exception to the rule. BTW, going back and complaining most likely won't do you any good because most discount salon workers do not speak English very well, and will probably try to tell you that yes, they are gel nails. That is pure bull...What you got was acrylic nails. Period. Some of these people will even go as far as saying that they used ';Powder gel.'; Sorry, but there is no such product. A gel is a gel, NOT a powder...

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. So, instead of me typing out the gel application process, I'm going to provide two links. One is to a pic of UV gel so you can have a good idea of what they look like. The other is a short video showing the application of UV gels in it's entirety. It's only a few minutes in length. In the video, you will notice that nowhere does this person use ANY liquid and powder. L%26amp;P are NEVER used in the application of gel nails. Ever. Only gels are used. And it is true. Gels are never a powder. They are gels, as you will see in both the pic, and the video. Anyway, here are the links. I hope this helps to answer your question!

The CND site has additional features in that once you find a salon your area, you can simply click on it, and it will open up to another page which gives all the important information such as contact information, addresses, and phone numbers. Did I get acrylics when I asked for gel artificial nails?
okay well if they put the powder and the liquid on your REAL NAILS and then put you under this portable dryer thing that turns purple right at the station then that is called gel.

if they added tips with the glue and then did that process with the powder and gel then thats just acrylic.

why didn't you ask them what was happening when you were there or bring your friend with youh?

i get my nails done all the time
Do you like your nails? if so quit bitching about it. Maybe you should go back or call them tomorrow and ask them before you raise hell and end up looking like an idiot because you may have gels. If you are a lady about it and are polite, they will probably be more than happy to make up for their mistake. (If there was one)
the powder becomes the gel that will harden if you got acrylics they should have put the whole fake nail on you and then the powder to even it out
some places are different my friend got what you got and hers got all bubbly when i got my gels done it was just straight gel. its more healthy
    thats deff not acrylic.

    it was gel
go back and yell at them

What is the difference between acrylic, gel, and solar artificial nails?

i went to the nail salon today and was going to ask the people there but they were all oriental and didn't speak english very well. they did however do a great job on my nails. i ended up going with the gel nails and it does look great and for $10 more it was well worth it because my sister in law just did my nails in acrylic and they started to pop off in a couple days. however i have no clue what solar nails are and i saw that as an option as well. can anyone clue me in as to the difference of the 3?What is the difference between acrylic, gel, and solar artificial nails?
Nails according to a seasoned nail professional....ME!

First things first....I do not recommend going to any nail salon where they don't speak English as their native language. This is not meant to be racist oir anything either. There are a couple of reasons why I said this. Let's say you are having problems with your nails and are concerned with them. How are you going to ask these people an in-depth question that may require the technician to have an advanced knowledge of nails, nail structure, and product chemistry in order to answer your question both thoroughly, and correctly when they can't even understand you in the first place? The people that run these salons most often run what are commonly referred to in the nail industry as 'discount' salons. These are loosely defined as any salon that charges about $20-$25 for a full set of acrylic nails. OK, back to your question...

    - Acrylic nails are made by the tech combining a monomer (the liquid), and a polymer (the powder). The resulting mixture is then applied to your nails either over plastic tips (the easy way, I hate tips!!!), or is sculpted over your nails to create the nail enhancement. The mixture of liquid and powder hardens in minutes through means of an exothermic reaction. Basically, they harden once they are combined together and are exposed to air, and body heat (from your nails). The end result is a long lasting, durable nail.

    - Solar nails. This is simply a term used most commonly by these discount salons to describe what amount to acrylic Pink %26amp; White nails. In short, Solar nails ARE acrylic nails. The only thing different is the colors used during the application. MANY peolple mistakenly believe that Solar Nails are something other than acrylic, They think that these nails are stronger, longer-lasting, non-yellowing, and overall- just better than acrylic nails are. Well, as a licensed nail technician who has been around for many years in the nail industry: I'm telling you the truth. They are acrylic nails. No better, no worse. But, they are acrylic nails either way. Don't be fooled by this misleading term. And don't let anyone tell you they are better than acrylic nails. If they do, then just try this one out on them and see what their response is. Simply ask them ';What makes these solar nails better than acrylic nails?'; I bet they have no idea, because they don't know the answer! They are just going by what other people, and techs have told them. Well, don't believe it. Moving on...

Gel nails. These are nails which are made from chemicals which are very similar to acrylic nails are made from. In fact, both are from the family of chemicals called the acrylics. The difference is that one is a liquid and a powder that is applied to your nails, and air hardened. The other is a gel - literally. The UV gel is applied to your nails in several thin layers. Each individual layer of UV gel MUST be cured under a UV lamp for 2 minutes. There is NO liquid and powder used ion the application of UV gel nails. Here is a pic of some very high quality UV nail gels in their raw form. This is what you should see being applied to your nails at the salon:

    http://www.cnd.com/Home/homelink-consume鈥?/a>

Notice the fact that they are NOT a powder? Well, there is a common scam that takes place mostly in the discount salons. You ask for gel nails. The tech then applies liquid and powder to your nails. Remember what that is? You're right, it's acrylic. Excellent. OK, when the nails are finished, sometimes the tech will apply a UV gel topcoat to your nails - if anything at all, and call the end result ';Gel'; nails. The scam is that gel nails always are higher priced than acrylic nails are. Well, in this case, the customer IS getting acrylic nails, but is paying for gel nails instead. Trust me, it happens ALL the time in these places. Some techs will go as far as telling the customer that they are using a ';Powder'; gel on your nails, LOL! Hmmm, Powder gel. Sorry folks. There is no UV gel products on the market with that name. A gel is, um, a GEL. Not a powder. Do not be fooled by this scam. It is VERY common.

Now, when top of the line gel products are used, and a highly skilled technician applies therm, the result should be a very thin, very glossy and realistic, lightweight nail enhancement. Gel nails are very durable. In your case, yes, you could have them applied over your natural nail as a way to strengthen them instead of lengthen them. However, neither acrylic, or gel enhancements can be cut down to shorten them. Both MUST be filed. Thats just how it is, sorry. BUT, what may make things easier on you is to use real, high quality nail files to shorten them instead of an emery board, if that is what you have been using? A good nail file of about 150-180 grit will remove any excess length in minutes. An emery board will take forever!

OK, I've gone on long enough. Besides my fingers are now tired from typing, LOL! I hope this helps to answer your questions?

Best wishes! What is the difference between acrylic, gel, and solar artificial nails?

Solar Nails according to a beauty advice website.

Solar nails are similar to the acrylic nails but they use a different product - usually white or pink acrylic nails. Solar nails often look like a French manicure. Like the acrylic nails, the solar nails also should be refilled every three weeks.

    My input:

Solar nails are actually acrylic nails made by Creative Nail products. They are pink and white nails.. A lot of nail salons will offer them as solar but NOT use Creative nail products but regular pink and white acrylic. They are not solar nails.

Pink and white nails are just two colors of acrylic. Pink on the nail beds and white at the tip to look like a permenant french manicure.

I prefer uv liquid gel nails. They are more flexible than solar nails and look more natural if done right. I also love my gel nails because they NEVER lift. I usually get a fill every 3-5 weeks and my nails grow fast.

    Hope that helps.

How do you wash your hair when you have artificial nails on?

So I found some artificial nails online and they look so pretty and since it's summer right now and there's no school so I bought them. I putted them on, I was warned that I cannot put pressure or scratch anything with my artificial nails. I used nail glue to put on the nails so the nails come off if I soak them with hot water. My problem is I need to wash my hair and I never thought of how to wash my hair when I was putting the artificial nails so NOW I have a problem. How can I wash my hair without removing the nails off from my real nails?? I REALLY don't want to take them off. Please help!

Thank you! =)How do you wash your hair when you have artificial nails on?

Those nails look fine to me. I think when a woman looks as if she takes care of herself it's sexy. Nails like those make her hands look cared for and like she cares about her appearance. Nails that are too long (where you wonder how she could type, write, pick things up, etc.) look scary and claw-like and are a turn off. What do guys think of artificial manicured/french tip nails?
they llllllllllllllooooovveeee it...trust me...my ex boyfriends always wanted to be grabbing my hands...go for it
    I think they look sexy!
    Most guys like red nails.
I don't really care what men think of my nails, but I know personally I feel sexier with long nails. I can't grow my own nails hardly at all, so I get sport-length French manicures. Just enough nail to look elegant, plus they're good for scratching your man's back!

How long is it safe to keep artificial nails on?

Nails do not breathe! Your nails get all the air they need at the root, and it comes from your blood. Nails are dead tissue, and is the same exact composition as your hair. Take care of your hair and it looks good, same with nails.

How long you CAN wear nails is up to how well your nails take them or how ';abusive'; the nail tech is to your own nails. I have 15 years experience in the nail business, and 20 years of wearing them (at ALL TIMES). Due to the solvents I work with I have to put on a new ';set'; once a month. On clients, I change out the nails as needed... ie: the product on the thumb gets loose, I put a new nail on. Replacing each nail as needed.

Absolutely NEVER pry the nails off, always soak them off in acteone!

As long as you take care of them (treat them as you would jewelry not a screwdriver), the technician is not over filing your natural nails, you keep a length that works well with your lifestyle (ie: if you play softball, you shouldn't have 2 inch long nails), and you inspect them DAILY for problems you shouldn't have any infections or disasters going on with them. How long is it safe to keep artificial nails on?
its safe as long as u keep it clean other wise it can cause infectionHow long is it safe to keep artificial nails on?
If they acrylics it's safe to keep them on for however long you want. Just make sure you get them re-done every few weeks. And make sure water doesn't get caught between your real nail and the fake nails or else it'll get infected.
The answer is that it depends on the extent of the false nails, what type they are, and how they are bonded with the nail.

However as a general rule you should not wear for more than two weeks without giving the nail a couple of days to breathe on its own accord.

This is important for a healthy nail as there is increased risk of infection and other problems when the false nail is attached as it stops the natural processes and breathing as it were of the nail from occurring.
I get gel nails. I take them off every 3months to let my nails breath get strong again then a month later ill get them redone.
I would suggest changing them every 4 fills. My aunt had an infection once and it was NASTY and ended up getting all funky and smelly and infected. don't put that stuff off.
It's not really safe at all. I wouldn't reccomend keeping them on longer than 2 weeks until getting a fill or replacements.
I used fake nails last year....for the WHOLE YEAR!

    I wouldn't recommend it for that long...maybe 1 month at a time.
about 2 weeks, but by that time they have usually fell off anyway so...

What is the difference between these artificial nails?

Im getting my nails done next week. I have read a few things about them and i read something about Acrylic artificial nails and gel nails. What is the difference between the two? and which of the two look nicer with a french manicure finish? Also what is the purpose of the two? Another thing is which one is cheaper but nicer looking? What is the difference between these artificial nails?
The gel nails are nicer looking, a little more expensive but a lot healthier for your real nails and they stay on longer and look prettier. The difference is that with pink and white acrylic they chip towards the bottom easily and look faker faster with the gel they have more of a polished look and don't chip as easily.

    Artificial nails?

i think taking them off is painful even after letting my hands soak in hot water and my real nails look like **** after they are off, any suggestions for taking them off painlessly?Artificial nails?
Go to a nail salon %26amp; have them soaked off. They'll put your fingers in acetone, which softens the fake nails. The person you sit down with should then use a nail buffer to remove the softened nail %26amp; smooth out your own nails underneath. You can also ask for a manicure to help with the acetone dry out that will occur. I always have my fake ones soaked off. It hurts to remove them myself. Plus the manicure afterwards feels great.Artificial nails?
Soak both hands in acetone for 15 minutes...makes them soft and pliable!
When you have them removed at the nail salon, they normally soak them in acetone. You can buy a little kit for removing them in the nail care section or from a beauty supply store. Don't try to pick them off- you'll ruin your real nails underneath.
dont use them in the first place the glue is bad 4 you
soak them in nail polish remover for 20- 30 min
soak them in nail polish remover that has acetone in it
you can wait til they fall off or get some kinda of solution that will help it not hurt to get them off
go to the nail shop and let them do it

I have a question about artificial nails..?

okay so i've had solar nails many times (you know, where they put on the tips and then put the pink and white powder and such), but i want something different next time i go in, and i want to know what to ask for so i dont sound dumb haha.

i'm still wanting fake nails, like where they put the tips on my nails and then put just regular colored (?) powder to even it out. and then where they actually put nail polish on top. so they look like regular nails just painted, but really are artificial.

would that just be acrylic? i'm confused. if that's what i want, what should i ask for when i walk in the nail salon?I have a question about artificial nails..?
Yes what you have on now is acrylics. So if you want that again then say you want acrylics.I have a question about artificial nails..?
if you have arcrylics just go in and get a fill and just say you want them whatever color you picked out :)
get colored tips its really cute

Are the processes involved in creating artificial nails, such as gels and acrylics, bad for the environment?

For a couple of years now, I've had some interest in becoming a professional nail technician to supplement our household income, but not at the cost of hurting our environment. I know those processes use a lot of chemicals. Are there industry standards for discarding salon chemicals in a safe, non-harming way? Are there new technologies which don't use all those harmful chemicals? Please don't flame me if you think I'm in the wrong category. Educated beauty professionals and scientists/environmentalists alike may have the answers I seek. Are the processes involved in creating artificial nails, such as gels and acrylics, bad for the environment?
As long as you dispose of the chemicals correctly, there is absolutely no harm done to the environment. I assume you will need to get some sort of certificate before becoming a nail tech?? I'm sure they will teach you how to properly dispose of chemicals such as the acetone, etc. Since you will be using acetone which is considered a hazardous waste because of its flammability, you will have to register with your state under RCRA as a generator of haz waste. take a look at these sites for more info:

Seeing the glue under artificial nails?

I have been using glue-on nails, because I am letting my thin, brittle nails grown out after having acrylics in a salon and I figure the fake nails will protect them without further damaging them.

Anyhow ... I buy the pre-made french manicure ones and they look great, except for I can see where the glue spots are under the nail. Any tips on how to prevent this while still making sure the nail is still secured onto my nail.Seeing the glue under artificial nails?
im a nail technician. the reason your nails are brittle is because lack of oxygen. as your nails grow they die, at the cuticle they are softish, the longer they get harder they get. so by putting a cover keeps them soft and you'll have the same problem when you take them of. but sometimes nail techs file them to much. close one eye and look at your nail side ways, is it all the same lever or is it ridged and higher at the cutical? nails grow at 1mm (sorry metric!) a week so you can sus out how long it will take to get them at full thinkness.

is so bad they are splitting on you, the best thing i can suggest is going to a good salon and getting manicures. light shiney buffing stimuales the blood in the nail matrix and helps them to grow faster and stronger do. lots of cutical oil massaging to does the same thing.

but if you feel you need to, place the drop of glue on the cuticle end of the fakey, put down on the cuticle first and press it down toward the tip, if it still spills use a cotton wool tip dipped in acetone straight away for the clean up.

best wishes hun!Seeing the glue under artificial nails?
What's going to happen when you want to put a new set of nails on? You're going to rip off the ones you have on, and your nails are going to still be thin and brittle. Just let them grow out ;)

If you're not going to listen to me and still wear tacky nails from the drugstore, spread the glue evenly on the nail. Make sure you're not doing a little wave thing or whatever with the glue.
I had the same problem! Just make sure you cover the entire nail (no air bubbles) and press down hard for 30 seconds or so. But, pre-made ones will make your nails brittle as well. So, when you do take them off, file them to your liking, and put plenty of nail hardener on them!

Another trick that I found handy was painting on a light manicure color over top. Wipe the excess from the white part, and it will camouflage the bubbles. Try like a light pink, or whatever is close to a mani color.

If you scroll down, He says his nails are fake?

Also, Ive noticed he's been wearing fake eyelashes.

There's a picture of him at the arthur premiere where he is looking down, and his eyelashes are very shiny and all the same length, and my mom's a beautician, and she confirmed they were fake.

Why is he doing this? I liked him better natural o.0TH Family: Bill has artificial nails?
Hah! I kinda figured cuz they never have a chip and they always look %100 perfect. I'm actually really jealous of his nail. Ok? I said it.

Taha that makes me feel better.

I like him better a little less glammed up too, but idk why he's been going so hard core.. maybe a phaseTH Family: Bill has artificial nails?
lmfao i sorta guessed his nails were fake since they always looked so perfect and i tried keeping mine like that for a week and i failed. xD

either way, he's probably so caught up in everything (like, starting their tour and all those other thingies) that he has no time for perfectly manicured nails so fake ones are easier. :P

and daaaaaamn, fake eyelashes?! O.o maybe he just wanted to try them out ;D

lol, i like him better natural too, but hey, people change!

i just hope he still has the same adorable personality that we all love. %26lt;3

edit: HOLY SHIIIT!! i'd love to see him in front of the tv in a jogging suit, UNSHAVEN! omfg. bill with facial hair? *shudders in a creepy way* wow, i can't even imagine that! :O
    Hi Dear,

Hmmm..After reading what he had to say,and seeing just how he looks,he want to look like a girl..In fact is face does look like a females face..Why? I guess he like the attention he draws to himself, and he likes the way he looks and thinks it's okay..Some might find his looks Hot,but a lot of people find it Not so Hot..In My Opinion, people have the right to have their own commons and people do have a right to dress as the want,as long as they don't go overboard on their style of dress and looks..

    Your Friend,

    poppy1
I could tell he wore fake eyelashes and nails...when they're real they're not as perfect looking lol he's just doing what makes him happy I guess :)

btw: Bill in a jogging suit/unshaven lolz....but in some close up pics that haven't been airbrushed you can see he has like a shadow on his upper lip (even Tom's got it), you can tell he shaves that bit...i don't think he has any on his cheeks tho...
i always figured his nails were fake lol

and ya hes been wearing fake eyelashes like since 08 i think.

ya i dont like it either....its wierd for a guy to wear them. really wierd i mean they suit him and im totally for wearing w/e you want but still.......blaaaaaaaaaaaa

its seems so plastic and fake. but i guess thats how he likes it. if youlook at pics from back in 07 his makeup was really simple and he looked hot with it. now he wears too much makeup and he doesnt even need it.
aww he had to kiss his hand for that scene... cute x3

I've always wondered if his nails are fake... so I guess they are?

Lol are you actually serious?!? He's wearing FAKE eyelashes? Thats a bit....over the top. And kinda weird for a guy.. :/

And its also weirding me out thats he's wearing heels... I mean seriously... he's wayyy tall now.. he doesnt NEED them, lol.

I dont know why he's doing this... I hate to say it but he is starting to become a tad... plastic. I liked him better natural too ='(
I've known about the eyelashes for a while, he's been wearing them for like 1 1/2 years.....but i didn't know about the nails.

I have no idea why he's doing this....he's coming across as plastic like Autumn said. I feel bad for thinking that but it's true...

    Now i'm all sad
lol how cute he had to kiss his own hand!? lol that is hilarious for some reason :)

i kinda figured his nails were fake but i had no idea he wore fake eyelashes that is a little weird but like i keep saying...he is hot and i don't care what he wears as long as it makes him happy :D
I kinda already knew about the nails XD..cause I tried the black nails with the white tips and after like 2 or 3 days the white kept coming off and i had to keep redoing it.I agree with you he looks better natural.
LMAO I love the part when he says he had to kiss his hand for that scene ^_^

    I MISS HIS BILLACURE! D:

%26amp; idk I guess he just loves getting all glammed up xD
Loll, maybe he feels better like that.

    About artificial nails?

okay so i have a bit (well a lot) of a nail biting problem.

so i was going to try out these glue-on nails from wal-mart.

';Nailene So Natural'; comfort flex nails to be exact.

so is it okay for me to paint on a nail growth/strenghtening clear coar on my nails before applying the artificial ones? or do they have to be completely bare?About artificial nails?
They have to be bare otherwise they don't adhere well and they fall off very easily.About artificial nails?
it will be fine if you put the nail growth on it before. But if u want your nails to look good, and real, get a full set at a nail shop, it is a lot better, but a little more pricey.
when wearing artificial nail, your real nails Must be clean and dry . no coatings , no nail polish.....because the glue will not hold and they will just fall off.
Artificial nails are disgusting. Please don't consider using them.
Hey, slap another coat on those babies. I won't tell

Does anyone wear artificial nails ALL the time w/o your nails getting wrecked??

When I wear glue on nails (changing them every week and giving them a couple of days inbetween applying new ones) my nails shred and hurt after just a few weeks. However, there are some women that I see that have them on EVERY time I see them....I am wondering...How do they do that w/o their nails getting destroyed? I would love to find nails that I can wear w/o having to go for 3 months of healing before I can apply new ones. ThanksDoes anyone wear artificial nails ALL the time w/o your nails getting wrecked??
The glue damages the nail. Try to decrease the use of artificial nails!

Try to use your nails. If you want to have healthy nails, smash 1 garlic ( not powdered but real garlic). After crushing the garlic pour it in a clear nail polish, leave it there to the next day. Shake and start using it. I guarantee you your nails will grow healthy and hard. Give it a month. Use it every week!Does anyone wear artificial nails ALL the time w/o your nails getting wrecked??
The simple answer to that is 'they don't care', their nails will be wrecked underneath but they just continue to get false ones over the top. There's no way you can have false nails all the time and not ruin your natural nails. The nail shaft will be brittle and in tatters. You're right to leave yours a few days before treatments, the air needs to get to the nails, you should also massage in nail oil like OPI Avoplex, just to give some nourishment and help prepare them for the damage.
i wear fake nails and i keep them on for 2 weeks then go back to the nail salon and get them filled. so basically they never come off, so i never see my real nails.

    Gel artificial nails question?

I got a set of gel nails today. Everything was fine until they put my hand under some fluorescent light. And then all the sudden I had extreme hot burning pain the the middle of the nail. It was not from any cut or cracked skin, because it only started after I put my hand under the light. It only lasted a few seconds and I figured it was over. Then she put another coat of the gel on and it did it again and several times more with each application. Another customer assured me that it happens to her as well...not as bad with a fill-in but each time she gets nails. Is this normal? Why? As much as it hurt, I was thinking these chemicals were absorbing into my finger or something. What is your experience with gel nails?Gel artificial nails question?
its normal.. dont worry.. but if it bothers u that much then next time dont get gel.. but it burns because of a chemical they use in the maing of the product but dont worry its not toxicGel artificial nails question?
My friend is a nail tech and we have a mutual friend who is allergic to the gel product and it started with the burning and eventually her cuticles became red and irritated. She immediately had them removed and now my friend uses a different product with her. If you are experiencing discomfort, it's for a reason. Your body tells you when stuff is not right. Have them removed and let them breathe for a while. Then try something else. Good luck to you!
Hmmm I never had anything like that. Maybe she sanded your nail down a little too much and it was real sensative. I had them once and they lasted so much longer and were so much stronger.

Nails you buy at like Longs, Walmart, ect. How long could I expect them to last? Please don't say go to the salon... I only have time at night really ( After solons would be closed...) so it would be hard for me to make an appointment...

They're no different from any other nails in type or plastic. The only difference would be color/style and glue. The type of glue you use will determine how long they last.';walmart' Artificial nails?

    They are really cheap nails.
You only have time at night? Most places I see are still open at night. And they have them in the mall and walmart. Those nails suck. They break off super easy.
i believe at least a day. buy the best glue they have at the store.

Artificial nails, what product should i use to keep Uv gel on for longer?

hi, i've been doing my fake nails for a very long time now, my real are just hopeless.

I have nice shape but nothing would stick to them, nail polish lasts only few hours.

Now after so many years i do them myself, but the problem is gel or even artificial nails wont stick for very long. 3,4 days later gel starts to come off and sometimes fake nail as well. I know there's lots of stuff on the market, but i don't really know the difference between them, i've heard of seals and some bonders. I use IBD gels. What should i use to keep my gel on for longer?

thanksArtificial nails, what product should i use to keep Uv gel on for longer?
Hiya If you ar on medication or have an illness you will find that your nails will fall off this is your body rejecting any foreign bodies that touch your body ... i am a nail tech and i have arthritis and when i do my own nails the only last 2-3 at the most i found that using a uv gel and setting it with a sealer under a uv light helps ... also if you apply your self you should use alot of primer this takes natural oil out of your nail plate and keeps them on for longer so if you are getting them do off someone else explain to them the problem your having and they should then for your sake apply more primer so in your case i would advise using a good primer its cheap enough and your result will last a lot longer i hope this help you xArtificial nails, what product should i use to keep Uv gel on for longer?
just pay to get them done lol

    Artificial Nails?

whats the difference between each of these:

    Tips Only

    Tips w/Acrylic Overlay

    Tips w/Wraps

    Full Set - AcrylicsArtificial Nails?
ips and overlays are faster than gels. A really good manicurist can put on a set of tips in 10 minutes (most nail techs. will take longer, though, about 20 minutes). My wife's record time for a full set -- buffed out, is 8 minutes.

Gels have to cure under the UV lamp -- there is no speeding that up.

I'd go with the tips and overlays for your first time. They are easier to work with (for the nail tech./manicurist).

The nail tech. will pick out the proper sized plastic tip for each of your fingers and glue them on to the tips of your fingernails using super-glue. Then the nail tech will apply a small amount of a chemical with a small brush to your nail to etch away some of the smooth surface so the acrylic will stick.

She will ask you how long you want the tips, so figure that out ahead of time. Don't get them too long if you are not used to long nails, because you'll end up breaking one or more of them doing something ordinary.

The nail tech. will then mix a powder and a liquid together on a small paintbrush and pat the wet mixture down onto your nails. This wet mixture is the acrylic and hardens within a minute or so. The acrylic connects the plastic tip to the bed of your own nail, and smooths over the glue-joint.

The nail tech will then file down the acrylic so it is very smooth and looks like your own natural nail. A really good tech. can apply the wet acrylic properly with the brush so she doesn't have to do much filing.

Artificial nails - do they always ';sandpaper'; them down first?

If you've ever had them done then you must know what I mean, but I had my nails done for the first time about a week ago and was completely unaware and then horrified whenever the man who did them took out a metal file that rotated and basically sandpapered down my nail.

I got ';solar nails'; by the way. I just wanted to know if any sort of artificial nails you can get do not harm your natural nail. This is the first time I've gotten my nails done and most likely the last if they always do file down your nail.Artificial nails - do they always ';sandpaper'; them down first?
Ouch - this is what can cause your own natural nail to be thinner and weaker after you have the artificial nail removed. Unfortunately, now that this has been done, the only way that it will be repaired is to wait until your natural nail has fully regrown. :( If you do choose to remove your nails, using a hand lotion regularly to moisturize your hands and nails will at least improve their appearance. Sorry to hear that they took this harsh approach to your first manicure; many women have artificial nails without going through that.Artificial nails - do they always ';sandpaper'; them down first?

Yes, in order for them to look more natural when they are done.

Small price to pay for beautiful looking nails.
When applying artificial enhancements the nail must be filed with a fine grit file in order to remove the shine from the nail. This helps for the product to adhere. An electric file should NEVER be used on the natural nail. It is so damaging!

Solar nails is a product line. Chances are it wasn't that actual product. Any reputable nail tech would not call them ';solar nails';. I use only acrylic products by Creative Nail Design. Their original acrylic line was Solar Nail. They have better products on the market now.

Remember, you get what you pay for. If you go to a budget nail salon you will get budget quality nails.
the bed of the nail will be filed no matter what type of fake nails are applied.

It helps what ever material they are applying adhere by removing any groves in your natural nail, or any oils that could cause the product to ';lift'; away from your natural nail.

    Artificial Nails removed?

I had artificial nails since the middle of March. the began coming loose, and instead of doing things the proper way, I just peeled the rest of them off. Obviously not good for the nails. Now my nails are VERY rough and weak. I have buffed them down, but am scared to do it too much because the nail is weak. Any suggestions to make them not so rough until they grow out without filing?Artificial Nails removed?
There really isnt much you can do other that apply either clear or regular nail polish. That helps a bit, but dont worry they wont be like that for long. Just dont keep on filing the rough areas cuz you are taking more nail away and making them even weaker. Id say stick to clear or light nail polish.Artificial Nails removed?
Next time you want to get fake nails off you need to either go to a nail shop and get them removed or, buy acetone remover. Its like nail polish remover but it takes off nail polish and artificial nails. Thats what i used to take mine off. For your nails now just give them time but soon they should be right back to normal.
ugh i know from personal experience how bad that can be. Definitely dont buff them anymore... you can actually buff completely through the nail.

Just apply a clear coat of nail polish and apply a thick cutical cream to the nail as often as possible. Good Luck!!

    Artificial Nails... Gel or Acrylic?

I generally grow my own nails quite successfully. I'm a bartender and always chip my nails at work because I'm constantly grabbing things, rinsing my hands and getting them wet which weakens my nails.

I have had acrylic nails in the past and found them to be pretty durable but did not like how thick they were and how they yellowed so I decided I'm going to try the gel variety. I always hear good things about them.

I went ahead and cut down all my nails but then after doing a bit of research have come to the conclusion that gel nails are used as an overlay and that they don't work well with tips. Is this true? Can I get tips with gel nails or do I have to get acrylics in order to have lengthier nails?

What are my other options? Also... how much do gel nails cost compared to acrylic nails?Artificial Nails... Gel or Acrylic?
Try getting solar nails. They are awesome. I used to get the acrylic nails and ever since I had the solar nails I will never get anything else. They don't break or chip or turn yellow and they are just as thin as your real nails. The only thing about the solar nails is you have to soak them in 100% acetone to remove them. I learned this the hard way when I tried to bite them off and they damaged my nails.Artificial Nails... Gel or Acrylic?
gel costs more usually. I love the way Gel nails look, Though Acrylic does the job just the same.
I have always gotten Acrylic with the gel top coat and it works great they are shinier and more durable! I don't know if they have it every where but its gel and its really thing then you but your hands under the UV light for them to dry! I have never gotten the gel kind that you are speaking of though!
not true about the gel... gel works as a cpat for the tip... when u dont get the gel... the tips color can come of easily... also it doesnt look as... i like gel better it makes it more shiny
i have had gel before as an fyi there are almost imposible to get off they are really strong and cant chip lol they have never turned yellow for me i usuaklly get frech tips so they arnt painted and dont chip hope it helps
hey girl, i have solar nails and they work great they look way better than acrylics and they never turn yellow which i know bc i tan and acrylics turn yellow when i tan and ive never had problem with solar. gel nails ive never had but i do believe gel nails dont last as long bc my friend had them and she told me she liked solar better, solar cost a little more than acrylics but its worth it, its not that much more.

  • Artificial nails lifting! help?

Hi everyone... I have been doing nails (gels) for 5 years now and don't really have any problems with lifting. my clients come in for a refill every 3-4 weeks. I have had a client though for 4 years now that is relatively ok with gels but everytime we need to put nail tips (maybe a nail broke or maybe when she takes it all off and eats her nais) we have lifting problems! the tip lifts on the sides and seperates from the nail. preparetion and all are ok since gels are always fine and the problem is just with tips. she picks her cuticles and i am almost sure that that might be pressuring the tip and causing it to lift. but i would like to hear other opinions and other possible reasons for tips lifting. thanksArtificial nails lifting! help?

    Artificial Nails Question.?

Ive been getting my nails done for about a year, a very simple one, just regular dental acrylic at one of those Vitnamese shops, i was fine, untill i started having allergic reaction to the material. i switched to an ';all white peoples'; salon, and started to get gels, it was fine untill couple of months, i started having the same reaction again. I dont kno if i am allergic to the acrylic or to the primer. I do work at a dental office and never notice any reaction to the dental acrylic. I was wondering if anyone else has the same problme? i love long nails, is there any other way to get artificial nails besides acrylic based ones? or maybe without the primer? i cant grow my own because of the hectic life style=( Thanks=-)Artificial Nails Question.?
It could just be an allergic reaction, or you could have caught bacteria because nail salons ONLY bleach %26amp; clean their utensils at the very end of the day, so if you go make sure you get the first appt. in the morning. they may wipe them off after one customer but they're not fully cleaned and a lot of germs are still on them.Artificial Nails Question.?
i've never heard of dental acrylic. But you do have to give your nails a breathing period without the wraps.

I like the glue manicure myself because it does less damage.
What the hell is an all white peoples salon!?

Artificial nails: Dashing Diva's Virtual Nails?

Ok I have always heard of Dashing Diva as being one of the upper scale salons in big cities and little to my surprise we have one in my little home town, what a shocker.

Anyways, I was looking on their site for artificial nails and they have these things called Virtual Nails (taylor fit %26amp; tip toes.) Has anyone ever used them before? Are they anything like regular acrylic, gel or fiberglass?

I have acrylic nails on right now and I was thinking about trying out the virtual nails next time. I just don't want to pay $100 and the nails turn out to be super fragile and only last me a week!

    get pink and whites

    it costs about 40

they last 3-4 weeks without needing fills

plus when they grow out its hard to tell because they stay nice

Do they put on an artificial tip when you get solar nails?

Yes, its very similar to acrylic nails. The difference is that the tip seems darker and the filling is pink. Solar nails aren't painted they are always french tip, where as acrylic nails are filled with white and then painted however you want. I get solar nails all the time.

    Do You have artificial nails????????

Please give your age and how your expirience with them have been.

    14. HATED THEM!!! do yourself a favor, and dont get them.

they totally ruin your nails and damage them forever. it took me 7 months to get them back to noraml!!!!!
    17. eh there okay, i wouldnt get them again though. They break after awhile and some of them get stuck on your fingers and they have to do a shiiiiittttt load to get them off. It sucks. Dont get them.

    Artificial Nails.?

I have short uneven nails, because they break alot.. I was thinking about getting artificial nails for a feminine look, I dont plan to have very long ones, but was wondering about the up keep of having fake nails, and how often you need them done?? also does it ruin my already exsisting weak nails? Thanks for any advice you can give :)Artificial Nails.?
I have had acrylic nails on for about 6 years now, my nails always look neat, clean and very feminine, I have the shorter french tips and they are refilled about every 4 weeks at a average cost of $30 a month, which is a small price to pay for permanently beautiful nails, I very rarely break one and get lots of compliments. Find a good nail technician that works from home ( this will make them cheaper and is more convenient for appointments) you will never look back!Artificial Nails.?
I don't think that's a good idea. I had acrylic nails done for prom. They generally last for at most, 2 weeks until you have to get them redone. When you remove the nails, they leave your original nails thin and brittle (btw it's REALLY painful to remove the nails.) In the end, the cost of the upkeep isn't worth it either. Just grow out your nails, and use some nail hardening nail polish! It'll be worth it.
well there rlly nice and when they start growing out get a refill..when you take them off it makes you nails rlly soft

  • Artificial Nails and bubbles...?

Ok, so I'm turning 17 in January and my mother said I couldn't wear makeup until then. I'm doing some personal research on makeup to get prepared and have some clue of what I am doing. I heard that when some people apply artificial nails, they get bubbles in between the nails. How do you prevent bubbles between your natural nails and the artificial ones?Artificial Nails and bubbles...?
Make sure you get a GOOD nail tech that knows what he/she is doing. You shouldn't get bubbles if they are done right. If you want to make sure that they don't lift and last a lot longer without it turning yellowish, then my suggestion would be to use gel instead of acrylic.Artificial Nails and bubbles...?
I am the same person who asked this question, I just have another account. This response it to checky: No, I am not confused. Artificial nails are part of makeup because you are making up your nails. If artificial nails aren't part of makeup and beauty, then what are they part of? I think YOU are confused. Next time, just answer the question.
hey umm artifical nails artn make up... i think u r confused... do u mean u cant wear artifical nails till ur 17 or u cant wear makeup and and u think artifical nails r makeup?
the bubbles will appear in every artificial nail but that only happens until the end like when they are coming off.

    Artificial nails--pros and cons?!?

    Hi,

I am getting my nails done on Thursday at a salon and I'm not really sure which I want. I'm getting them done because I simply don't have time for the upkeep of my natural (beautiful, long, semi-strong, squared nails). I have had acrylic's before, but I am hearing good things about pink and whites, gels, and silk wraps. What are the pros and cons of each of them? Can you also tell me where I can go to see pictures of each example? Please and thank you :)Artificial nails--pros and cons?!?
i have solar nails. i have white tips with sparkles. they last longer and they dont have to file your nails down as much. they wont rip off as easily... but can be easily soaked off with acetone.

    answer my question??

well they r all really gross and dirty and germy,

they thin your real nails down to the thickness of paper.

Ladies, have you ever used artificial nails?

and then lost them or caught them on fire?

I lost one in my pantyhose and couldn't find it (looks GREAT with 9 nails) it was stuck to my thigh and anothrr time, I lit a cig and my nail caought on fire, so ended up putting it out in some guys drink, since I hadn't been served yet and couldn't use my own, oh, i did buy the guy a drink though! And then dated the guyLadies, have you ever used artificial nails?
I used acrylic nails for a long time, as my own grow slowly and are not that strong. Then I switched to gel overlay only. I have a wonderful manicurist who took very good care of my nails, but due to budgetary reasons I had to give up that one luxury.

When I had acrylics, yes, I had one catch on fire one day! Really scary!!...Then one other time my best friend and I couldn't get appointments at our then regular manicurist and went to another salon a few short hours before a holiday semi formal dance...As I was sitting at the table in the ballroom with my handsome date my nails began popping off into the air flying across the table , one by one! So much for that manicurist AND my ego! LOLLadies, have you ever used artificial nails?
Yes I have worn them a few times and finally gave up and said grow my own. I could never zip up my jeans with them, If I went out for the evening drinking.. I had to have my friend zip and unzip the jeans. I poked myself in the eye, forgetting how long they were, that hurt. and of course like you popped one off and looked like a doofus with 9 nice ones and one short one, which was the middle finger..and the last straw was getting an infection under one of them.. never again.. to much bother for the price of them...
Yes, I tried to nail up some wallboard

with some I had and they sure don't

    work very well.
no. i'm quite lucky that i can grow my nails long
I never have worn them, but I'm sure if I did, something like that would have happened to me too. I'm just chuckling trying to imagine your nail on fire and having to extinguish it in that guy's drink, what an impression you must have made! It reminds me of that episode of I Love Lucy where she mets William Holden, catches her nose on fire lighting a cigarette and puts it out in a cup of coffee . . .
LOL.... maybe you should stick to your own nails! Hehehe....

I wear them, but they are really, really, really short! My dentist made me do it! He said if I didn't stop biting my nails, I'd screw up my $8000 worth of dental work!! I was convinced! But I still can't do anything (ya know... like BUTTON MY OWN PANTS....) if I keep the fake nails long!
Yes %26amp; just like any other long fingernails...

    They were in the way.
Only once. Getting them off was a big pain and not worth the effort.
And you think i have done some wild stuff!

The only fake nails I put on are for all hollow's eve. %26amp; they are long %26amp; very sharp.

A dragon would never toast her talons.
Long ago when press on nails first came out I wore them for a date, all dressed up, going to a fancy place. All was well until I went to the ladies room and washed my hands and....down the drain they went.

Several years ago while trying to strengthen my own and grow them out I wore the glued on nails for a couple of months. I quit when people in the office would come up to me laughing and hand me a nail they found on the carpet somewhere.
Yes, all the time, but never caught them on fire! lol
Yes I have put on fake nails. I done that for about 6 years. I worked in them and every. I have caught them on fire a couple of times as well.

I never did have them done, I did it my self, so much cheaper than having it done. Plus I also worn French Tips as well. I always thought they looked so ';dressy';.

I did plumbing, gardening, and canning with them as well. Never had a problem with the zipper, guess I was lucky there.

But with this last job that I have now, fake are not allowed, and no polish. So that is that for now with them. And your own finger nails have to be kept short as well. This summer when I out off work for 2 1/2 to 3 months, I might wear them again.
I was lucky to have long nails. Now I just have them applied and kept short.
No I haven't . I tried once, but I cancelled right away, i like my own nails better. I have cute fingers , those artificials dont look good on me.
Yes, I have gotten acrylic nails several times. I used to bite my nails to the quick, but have gotten a little better over time. I have tried Hard as Nails, and that works for a time, but they start to turn yellow. I have given up the artificial nail route and just don't care anymore now. Occasionally I will throw a little

nail polish on. I remember I used to always paint my nails Black for Halloween. Even before black was was the rage. People used to look at me funny, but of course I didn't care.
Haha, lovely story. One of mine snagged off in my hair. It was pretty rank, I must say... never caught fire though..
yes, I have used them but never caught them on fire.
That's what you call a double spiked drink! I've caught mine on fire but can't tell you how!! LOL!!
Have you ever had em put on,then gone to pee and couldn't get your jeans unfastened???

( I actually let my baby sister talk me into going to nail school.I had lots of free time on my hands and she said I would enjoy the creative aspect of it- boy does that stuff STINK.Even now thinking about it my nose wrinkles.)

I tried it for a while, but I use my hands WAY too hard to keep em,so it's real and real short for me.I don't know how some folks ';wipe'; with the really long ones on!
I have worn them several times. I really like them. I have never caught one on fire but I did melt one once. I lit a cig and it just started drooping. It wasn't pretty.
I've tried them twice. Both times they were the kind from the store, not from a professional salon. The first time was at my second wedding, and I ended up loosing not one, but two in the toilet when trying to wipe. That was really lovely. The second time was for a Halloween party, and I lost one in some chip dip and didn't notice until someone else pointed it out. I was so embarrassed.
LOL! You put your nail out in his drink? roflol!

Yes, now that I am composed, lol...I have worn them in the eighties and nineties.

I lost many! I think the most embarrassing time was the night my daughter got married! She had insisted that I be her Maid of Honor, as she said I was her Mom and her best friend. I did not want to say NO but, I knew it would be very hard to stand there as she married! So, I agreed.

I did just fine and restrained the tears but, when it came time for me to take her bouquet...the tears flooded my eyes and I reached for the bouquet and hit her ring hard...the nail popped off and went air born! Of course, most everyone could see this and I am still trying to live that down!

Funny thing is, I was asked what happened to your nail? Without thought, I put up my middle finger to show the bare nail. Everyone cracked up as they thought I was giving someone the wrong message!!! ROFLOL
I've been taking Brewer's Yeast pills since I was 26.I can tear a man's throat out with me nails!!!
Yes. Really splurged one year and got porcelain. On the way home got hit from behind and grabbed the wheel so tightly they ripped off.... a few layers of mine with them.......I have had them done since....just too much hassel to keep up. Not to mention too many holes in nylons.
i used to wear them when i waited tables because i didn't think the customers wanted to see my chewed off fingernails when i served them their food.

yes i have lit them on fire (when i was drinking)

i lost one at work one day and just hoped it hadn't ended up in somebody's food !!

that was when i decided that they would just have to look at my chewed off fingernails rather than take a chance on popping one off in their plate and probably getting fired for it
oh yes, and they come unglued at the most inconvenient times too
Occasionally I will buy nails at the drugstore, but I've never had them professionally applied. I've been blessed with strong nails, but sometimes they're brittle (and sometimes I slice one while slicing food -- I've also been known to slice flesh).

During bowling season, there are one or two that stay broken down to the quick, so I keep them filed down and covered with fake. Most people aren't aware of them, because I keep my nails fairly long (between 1/8 and 1/4 inch beyond the nail bed).

I have had one pop off while bowling, and I had to walk down the alley to retrieve it. It's always good for a laugh. Everybody knows when I get down on my knees at the foul line and put my head to the floor I'm looking for a fingernail, because it's happened more than once.

Real Life* Artificial Nails ??? DO they work?

Hi, I just bought a pack of Real Life* Press on nails thats the brand name. I was wondering if anyones used them before? did they work how long did they last?

i hate it after you put fake nails on then you try to wipe yourself after you go pee pee
    I DONT KNOW.....IM NOT BLACK
yep they do last quite a while :)

    No more artificial nails!!!?

I am trying to save some money and not get artificial nails, but need a good topcoat to use to protect my nails which tear easily. I would appreciate any suggestions as to what brands or products to use that I can buy in a store like Sallys Beauty Supply or Walmart. No more artificial nails!!!?
this worked wonders on me!!!No more artificial nails!!!?
anything with sally hansen is a really really good product and will work. just look through their collection and you'll find something for you.
To be honest, once youve gotten artifical nails constantly your nails are just ruined, because your nails get very fragile, and also fungi can get to your nails, be ause the water stays under the artifical nail until its removed... so try to keep up with your nails for a while, just take good care over them maybe a manicure every week with clear nail polish or no nail polish, and see how the results are...

    Good Luck.

    Artificial Nails and its bubbles...?

Ok, so I'm turning 17 in January and my mother said I couldn't wear makeup until then. I'm doing some personal research on makeup to get prepared and have some clue of what I am doing. I heard that when some people apply artificial nails, they get bubbles in between the nails. How do you prevent bubbles between your natural nails and the artificial ones? And please, give helpful answers only and no rude remarks. Thanks!Artificial Nails and its bubbles...?
thatt only happens if you dont clean your hands! you HAVE to wash your hands when needed, like before and after eating or going to bed or after using the bathroom. just keep your hands clean n your all good:)

    Artificial Nails???

Hi I use to get my nails done all the time. I quit about two years ago because after a while my finger tips would dry up and hurt so much that I couldn't do anything. Why do you think that is? I tried 2 different salons and had the same effect. I would like to start having them done again, but I am scared. Does anyone know why this would happen? Your help is appreciated.Artificial Nails???
they probably filed your real nail down too much. Ya, that would hurt a lot. You have nerve endings under your nail.

You may also have naturally thin nails and this may happen no matter who does themArtificial Nails???
It sounds like an allergic reaction to me. Maybe try gel or wraps.
there's a possibility that you're allergic to the glue or the glue is drying out the tips of your fingers. next time you them, put moisterizer on the tips of your fingers. if that doesn't help, I suggest you don't get them again.

Has anyone ever tried artificial toe nails. Was it successful??

I use to work as a cosmetic consultant and I know alot of people wore them for prom and stuff.

They seem to work just as you would expect, but its rather silly if you ask me.Has anyone ever tried artificial toe nails. Was it successful??
I HAVE THEY NEVER WORKED THEY R TO LONG AND THEY BUGGED THE CRAP OUT OF ME I FOUND IT TO BE BETTER IF YOU LET YOUR OWN GROW OUT AND GET A PEDICURE AND HAVE THEM MAKE THEM SHAPE THEM AND PAINT THEM THE WAY U WANT THEY CAN PUT THE WHITE UNDER THEM IF THAT IS WHAT U WANT

    Artificial Nails, maybe?

I was thinking of getting artificial nails, but can't choose between acrylic or gel. What is the difference and what are the pros and cons for each?Artificial Nails, maybe?
    ArtificialArtificial Nails, maybe?
Artificial nails are killer, but they aren't very good for your real nail, so make sure that you're caring for your real nails extra well.
I always get acrylic but whichever you decide on make sure you find someone who can really shape you nails and make look natural. It took me a long time.

    Artificial nails?

i got my nails done the other day and i couldnt stop looking at them . now i look at them and a few of them are turning yellow .

what do i do to get rid of it ... is it because i smoke ?Artificial nails?
Most likely...Mine use to do it all the time....So now i just get darker colors. It doesn't show up that way.Artificial nails?
yes its because you smoke!! stop smoking you smoker.. do you wanna die/?? you better stop smoking this instant.
If its the tip of your nail it could be from smoking. But if it is by your cuticle its prob. fungus. In that case you need to buy a anti-fungus nail polish or spray you can get it at the drug store.

How do i safely remove artificial nails???

i want to get my nails done and i dont know how to remove them with out getting my real nails affected or ugly looking. How do i safely remove artificial nails???
soak your nails in acetone polish remover - once off, use an oil so the skin around the nail doesn't dry and this also will protect the cuticle. How do i safely remove artificial nails???
Nail salons can do it for you before you get the new set (like $3.00)
Just soak your nails, and use nail polish remover specifically for artifically nails. You can find this at Walmart.
put nail varnish remover on cotton wool and put it on the end of your nail or ur hole finger nail n wrap tin foil around it so it cant come off and leave it on there to soak .... do this to every nail....

    Applying artificial nails?

I'm getting ready for a formal event and decided to try some of the artificial nails you find in Wal-Mart. I was wondering what is the best way to apply them to my natural nail. Should I cut my nails down short or leave them the length they are now (about 1/4 inch past my finger) so that the artificial nails have more to bond to. Also, one of my nails is chipped. Will that matter when putting on the artificial nail, or should I cut that one down?

Thank you in advance for your help!Applying artificial nails?
If you just want them for the night then use the nail glue(kind of like crazy glue) to apply the artificial nail. You wont be doing any heavy lifting or anything so they should hold up. Ive used them before and I didnt have to cut my nails at all.

If you want them to last a couple of weeks then go to the nail salon and get them done professionally.

    Good luckApplying artificial nails?
just go to the salon and have them done, those ones you do yourself always break of and you might wind up with missing nails by the end of the night.

First, let me say that I have a feeling that you arn't a crossdresser, just some goofball looking for a laugh. For one, a crossdresser would be old enough to know how to spell ';color'; and ';highlights!'; lol. Second, I think you wouldn't ask silly questions about ordinary things like coloring your hair. All types of people dye their hair.

If you ARE a crossdresser, you shouldn't feel the need to ask total strangers about what you should do with your nails or hair. Do whatever pleases you.Im a crossdresser sould i get artificial nails done and hilites in my hair?

    Definitely.

    Highlights are a wonderful touch.

Wear a dark slimming dress (i.e., black, maroon, dk. blue)

    Smile and shine!
haha. i'm sure that if you were a real cross dresser you would already know these things! plus all this is your own decision. i would get your nails done in french tips, (professionally, if you can afford it) and get ';highlights'; only depending on what your hair looks like now. ask some friends or your beautician.
It's your call. Whatever makes you feel good! You go!

    Which ones are better?? why??

Thanks xxShould i get gel or artificial nails?
artifical nails are nice, ive never heard about gel nails..

you can get the artifical nails in any way you want, the french manicure is nice.. they last for about 2 weeks or 3 weeks..

they can ruin your nails, but it will go away soon, but in genreal theyre ment to ruin your nails, but dont get them continusley bc they will peremenatly ruin your nails, bc fungi can from in under you artifical nail, bc water can get stuck under there, for a while, get mee.??

good luckShould i get gel or artificial nails?
The thing is...you get what you pay for...acrylic nails are cheaper, although more crap can be topped on them, they defiantly dont look natural and they dont last long enough, you will have to get a fill before you now it. Now gel is a lot more expensive but natural looking, translucent to show off your natural nail color, and you can do a lot with the tips that can also be sooo pretty, with glitters, colors, and french.
i do nails and i like acrylic a lot better. i can add more detail and make 3D art which is very popular. with gel you can not do that. and you only have so much time to work with the gel. GEL is a little shinnier, much more polished looking ubt also very see-thru. Acrylic is much easier to work with and can have a lot more detail. Gel are also very hard to get off, a lot harder on your nails. Gel can also be more expensive. Depends on the look your going for! :)

    hope that helps your decision
Gel nails are lighter and are good for people who use their hands alot. Acrylics tend to be thicker and a bit heavier. Both can mess up your natural nails. I wouldn't say one is really better than the other, it just really depends on which ones are the best for you and your lifestyle. But if cost is a factor, acrylic is about $10-20 cheaper.
After using both kinds, I can tell you that the damage done to your natural nails is.....major. It took months, if not a year, for my natural nails to come back to normal. Fake nails are beautiful, but if you ever want to go back to natural, expect a horrible mess with your nails. Not to mention the constant appointments nearly every week to have them filled.... pain in the as*. I would never ever do fake nails again.
both have advantages and disadvantages, it's up to you which one to choose!

Here's a nice article about the good and bad parts of both nail options:

    Advice on applying artificial nails.?

How do you apply the nails w/o getting the glue all over the fingers of the other hand when you are pressing the nail down for the required 5 sec. I try to let go %26amp; my fingers are either stuck together or to the artifical nail, or both. Also when using the clear nails, (not colored) you can see thru the nail where the glue is distributed underneath. Another problem I have is holding onto the fragile fake nail. I keep dropping it or getting it on croocked. I've tried a tweezers, but seem to have a problem there too. I guess I'm just clumsy.

Outside of getting it done professionally, how can I improve my efforts? Thank youAdvice on applying artificial nails.?
use broadway nail brand. thats what I use and they look fantastic, plus they are very durable.

buy some acetone, and when youre doing your nails put some on a paper towel and just wip around the nail once you put the fake one on. the acetone kills the glue on your fingers, but not the nail glue. just dont put too much on... since it will scrape the fake nail away. a few swipes is fine, anymore than that will make the nail burnAdvice on applying artificial nails.?
hi,just apply glue to the well of the artificial nail ,just let it run along it and if u get too much tap it quickly on a tissue ,i just hold the tip of the nail with my thumb and finger and rock it on to the free edge of the nail and hold it on for about 10 secs.your not clumsy you just need pratice ,i was the same but you get the knack when u get the hang of it ,good luck ;-)
make sure that you put them under your cuticule.

push your cuticles back then put the on.

truthfully i would not put them on. the reason is that they will leave a permante bump on you natural nails. and when your natural nail grow back, the artifical nail will come with it and look horrible.

it also hurts to take them off. for the first couple of days you cant do anything really because you are not used to them.

if you really want them go to a local nail salon, and they will do a much better job of fitting the nails to look more natural than you could do [no offense]

good luck hope you take my advice of eaither proffesional help or not doing it at all.

** the gule also takes layers of your nail off, and it leaves thenails uneven, and un attracitive.
When you put on the glue make sure to only put on a small drop and use a botle of glue that comes with a long slender nozzle. If you need to ask someone to put the glue on for you. For the nails use w7, Broadway, Nailene or Elegant touch. They're quite durable and look for the ones that aren't clear. The clear ones tend to be cheaper though and if you're planning on polishing over them then they're fine.
As a nail tech I can tell you even for the pros it's not uncommon to glue yourself to your work! lol

Try using a brand of glue called IBD ';5 Second'; nail glue... I use the brush on gel kind and it stays in place unless you put too much on. Their tops are also designed to NOT glue shut on you in storage.

However, I assume you are using full nails instead of just tips, it may be better for you to hunt down the glue pads--basically they stay on for the weekend. Using the superglue type all the time on ';press-on'; nails can breed bacteria between your nail and the press on one turning yours green--then you won't be able to wear any at all until they grow out the green.

    Good luck!
bah ! grow ur nails silly...instead of applying artificial nails
dont put the glue where you can see it put it on the tip of your real nail and on the tip top of it
Get them done by a pro or you will surely get an infection since you don't know exactly how to apply them airtight and water will surely seep in and create nasty fungus...yikes!

You will need to soak them off. You should be able to find the solution at Walmart near the nail polish removers.

I don't think any man should wear fake nails... You're taking away something, that as a female, makes me feel feminine! I don't care what your sexual orientation is! If you want to take care of yourself, just get a manicure! Sheesh!
    oh hell nah

    Artificial nails?

I went to the store yesterday and i bought non acetone nail polish remover. I soaked by nails in it for about 10 mins and they did not come off. what did i do wrong?Artificial nails?
To remove acrylic nails, you need to use acetone based nail polish remover. Non-acetone based remover is used to take the polish off acrylic nails without damaging the acrylic. For gel nails, I think you have to have those removed at the salon.Artificial nails?
YOU DO NEED acetone polish remover, your nails have to soak for least 15-25 minute, as it loosens up, pry them off.

I got the artif. tips when I was 21-kept them on for like 10 years, I will NOT get them ever again, everyone wears nails, naturally now, with just little bit of white tip , active length, so why keep going to get them done??!!! I get Nailtique to keep them strong %26amp; durable, but only thing I do is pedicures now, not too many people get tips anymore..tto much time, money, maitenance involved, when there are so many other things take its place.

Good luck, hope you get them off, just remember, takes awhile for your own nails to recover , get stronger too!!
You should get Pure Acetone nail polish remover, and it may take more than 10 minutes, but non acetone remover isnt strong enough to take the nails off.
you put them on in the first place. it makes me sick when i see girls with fake nails.
i think fake nails look pretty
you used a non acetone remover, you need one that has acetone to break down the glue. it should take 20 minutes
non-acteone nail poslish remeover dont work try buffing ur artifical nails
idk, but fake nails RUIN your real nails.
    I hate non acetone nail polish remover. IT SUCKS! Buy nail polish remover with acetone. When you go to the nail salon, that is what they use, ';pure acetone.';
First of all you need acetone nail polish remover. Second you need to soak longer, like for an hour or so. Hope this helps.
If you are trying to remove your acrylic nails you need Acetone, not non-acetone. =)

tHas anybody ever used fake or artificial nails?
if you are talking about the ones they sell at a walgreens or cvs in my oppinon those are only good for a night out on the town (meaning ONE NIGHT) those are good if the nail shop is closed and your in desprete need ... they are however safer for your nails than the acyrilic ones at the nail shop.. so it all depends how bad you really want them ,, i dont like fake nails anymore.. i have gotten manicures for about 2 months and my real nails are growing fine and healthy PLUS THEY LOOK MORE NATURAL!!!!

GO FOR MANI'S YOU'LL SAVE YOUR NAILS AND YOUR MONEY!!!Has anybody ever used fake or artificial nails?
i used to use them i i thought they were really good. how to use them, well it really depends on what kind you get. and as for which ones... you can go to a salon and get them done ( which i recommend) or you can buy some at the drugstore or something. but i wouldn't go under 15.00$ they start to get cheap.

    %26lt;3 - hope i helped?
I get them done every once in a while. The above suggestion that fake nails are bad for your real nails is true. As long as you only do it again after you re-grow your nails and care for them between using the fake ones you should be okay. They are easy to use, but follow the directions closely because if you don't they won't last as long. The more money you can afford to spend the better the store nails, but I recommend professionally done.
Yes, I have fake fingernails on right now! I woud recommend using Manacare brand - it's a really good quality brand, and they last for weeks! All you have to do to apply them is to stick them on! They are usually around $15.00

    Good luck ;-)
I haven't, and never will. Fake nails/Artificial nails are bad for you. When you use them too often, they make your REAL nails lack luster and healthy shine.
If you buy them from drugstores or others like walmart and such, they will not stay on for long at all. Five days, if you're lucky.

Get them professionally done, they will look better and stay on longer.

    Please explain artificial nails?

Can someone simplify the difference between acrylic and gel nails?

Also, since I'm 13 year old, and have really fine hands, I can never get the right size of nails for each finger, when I walk in?

Oh I forgot, I heard that for gel nails, the drill into your nail? Does it hurt?...Please explain artificial nails?
Acrylic is put on with a brush in lumps and filed down smooth, often using a drill with a bit that is a little sander. They don't drill into your nails.

Gel is less stinky and painted on more like polish with drying time between coats.

I prefer gel and think they look better. Having your nails done should not hurt at all.

What are THE best artificial nails??

I recently had Light Concept or Gel nails. They're really expensive but they look the most natural (because they are clear). I got rid of them because I couldn't find a place that did it the way I like and if I'm going to pay all that money for them, then I want them done my way. But they are by far the best artificial nails I've ever had as far as strength and durability and natural look. But they still damage your nails just like any artificial nail. What are THE best artificial nails??
I've heard OPI is the best. The powder goes on smoothly %26amp; stays on better. What are THE best artificial nails??
The salon ones damage your nails as well as the glue on ones. .If you are interested in getting your own nails to grow try Burt Bee's lemon cuticle cream and put it on faithfully every night and they will get strong. All artificial nails do some damage to your nails.
I don't know a good brand but there are many places to buy fake nails. If you want cheap, glue ons that last long, then go to Walgreens. They have a huge selection of glue ons with really cool designs on them, if you get them, get ones with white designs or french manicure ones, so they will match with all your outfits.
The glue on ones ruined my nails. When I get acrylics done at a good salon (ie a spa) my nails have no damage at all. And they last so much longer. Seeing as how the glue on ones fall off all the time, which means more glue on your nail. But if you are gonna do the glue on ones use the most expensive glue they have.
