I'm wondering if it's ok to have artificial nails, acrylic nails etc during pregnancy. I have some here that just glue on...Nail glue/artificial nails during pregnancy?
Many chemicals involved with acrylic nails can be allergens and may effect you now even if they didn't before including acrylic liquid, nail glue, formaldehyde, and polish remover. Formaldehyde has also been linked with birth defects but all the studies that have been have used a large amount of fo Formaldehyde...certainly a higher amount than you would find in ordinary nail products either at home or at a salon.
You should use nail polish that is formaldehyde- and toluene-free.
You should avoid skin contact of the glue, nail polish and remover during the application process. This is especially true during the first trimester when the baby鈥檚 organs are being formed.
You should avoid inhaling the fumes by doing nails in a well ventilated place and possibly by an open...fumes may make you naseaous and light headed.Nail glue/artificial nails during pregnancy?
It's fine. The only thing to be careful of is visiting shops where there is poor ventilation... it's not good for either of you to be exposed to the fumes.
It's perfectly okay to use artificial nails while pregnant. Make sure you apply them in a well-ventilated area, Just don't eat the glue, and your baby should be fine. :) Try to keep the glue/polish off of your skin. There is a chance you'll be more sensitive to the fumes, but it won't hurt the baby.
i heard its fine as long as u dont have prolonged exposure to the fumes. If you do them urself make sure ur in a ventilated large room.
if you are going to the shop, and will be there for a while, ask for one of those hospital masks.
I'm 36wks 5days pregnant and I've been getting my nails done (acrylic) since the beginning. My doctor sees my nails and he hasn't said anything about not getting them done.
Frequent exposure to the chemicals in the air in those salons can cause problems, but it would have to be everyday. I would recommend that you wait until after the first trimester and that you don't do it anymore than every two weeks. :)
Congrats on your pregnancy. I am a nailtech and I am 37 weeks along myself. If you are using SAFE products or having them used on you ( a lot of quick-nail shops use unsafe product) You should be fine as long as you have proper ventilation when applying them and/or filing them. People really need to be careful where they are getting their nails done. There is a huge difference between my quality and services compared to 90% of the others in my city. See my website for details. GOOD LUCK !!!!!!

dont lission to that stupid girl about drinking it. and yes its fine. its like getting a massage, its relaxing and you look and feel prettty!!!!!
pamper yourself!!!
I dont know the answer to this question, but i'd like to say ';Ren Brown [Official]'; Is a PATHETIC excuse for a person...that is all.
The kind you do yourself are fine (like the glue on ones in the store). Don't go into a Nail Salon though....the acrylic fumes are not good for the baby. If you want to get a manicure or pedicure go to a day spa where you are not around any of the fumes. It might be a little more expensive but its worth not risking it.
i should imagine that its fine. REN BROWN YOU'RE SICK.
Shut up Ren.
Anywho, the artifical nails should be fine, i just wouldn't use the glue or anything like that if you have an open cut on your finger...just incase it might get into the blood stream. Doubtful that, that will happen, you can always check with your doctor, but i'm sure it's alright.
