After removing my artificial nails, my own nails are very weak, thin, tears easily, and just hurt. What can I do to help them grow and become stronger? What can I do to repair nails damaged by artificial nails?
I like Sally Hansen Hard as Nail to protect my nails when I am not wearing acrylics and it seems to make surface less sensitive. You can get one from drugstore . com that is made by OPI that works even better but costs about $15.00 a bottle. I would take a vitamin supplement for couple weeks too the GNC Women's Hair, Skin %26amp; Nails Formula, With 2500mcg of Biotin, Tablets works really fast and your hair will look good too.
In the future don't have them take off your acrylic nails, start taking the vitamins a week or two before instead of getting a fill on your nails. Then go in and have them cut shorter instead of picked off. paint over the surface with the hard as nails every other day for the next week. Then have them cut down one more time. They will grow out stronger and not be damaged by the removal process. Don't let anyone soak your nails in solution to remove the top layer of acrylics, that is what weakens your real nail a lot. good luckWhat can I do to repair nails damaged by artificial nails?

First I would suggest getting a manicure. Or if you cant, buy a 3 or 4 way nail buffer. Buff and shape you nails into a square tip shape (square is the strongest).
Use a stregnthing base coat. This helps your nails to not be so brittle and soft. (I love nail tek and you can buy it at a local salon or online, I think it works the best) apply two coats of nail polish and a thick top coat..

it will take time for them to heal
Just wanted to second the Cutex stuff. I have also found it helps to keep 2-3 coats of clear polish on the nails, it gives some much needed strength.
Get some vitamin E oil and rub it on ur nails and find a nail hardener with nail food (I think that's wut it's called) that has vitamin E on it....put that on ur nails and it should help.....
